PTFS Band Selected to Compete at The Community’s Got Talent-Battle of the Bands
The Bad Neighbors- a band started by PTFS’s CEO John Yokley, competed against many bands and was one of 8 selected for The Community’s Got Talent – Battle of the Bands charity event. The Community’s Got Talent event will be hosted by actor/comedian/musician Dan Aykroyd, and will feature bands comprised exclusively of musically talented Intelligence Community (IC), Special Operations (SO) and associated industry personnel. This is an Invitation only event.
About The Community’s Got Talent:
The charity event provides college funding and support for the children and dependents of fallen soldiers. Donors can choose from one of two foundations: the CIA Officers Memorial Foundation (CIAOMF); or the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF). Both exist to provide education and gap funding for children of fallen warriors. When the SEAL-laden Chinook was shot down in Afghanistan a few months ago, 31 kids were added to SOWF’s roster. Likewise, the children of the fallen CIO operatives represented by the CIA Wall of Stars has grown substantially since 9-11. Both foundations make promises to SEALS, Delta, CIA Officers, etc. that their kids’ education will be paid for should they not return home. The Battle of the Bands efforts hopes to add to the $50+ million that has been raised thus far.
The event is being judged by Tish Long (Director NGA), Ron Burgess (Director DIA), USAF General Charlie Holland (retired 4 star and former Commander of USSOCOM), and Scott Large (Director NRO). There is a networking session prior to the contest, and afterwards Dan “Elwood” Aykroyd and Steely Dan founding member Skunk Baxter will do a Blues Brothers set.
