PTFS Awarded Department of Navy Records and Backlog Management Support Contract

North Bethesda, MD, May 30, 2013- PTFS was recently awarded a task order by the Department of Navy for preserving and cataloging historical paper document collections at the Washington Navy Yard. This award follows conclusion of the successful Paper Pilot Program performing similar services on a portion of the larger collection.

The Paper Pilot Program required PTFS to preserve, catalogue and digitize approximately 1,000 cubic feet of material at the Naval History and Heritage Command Archives Branch. Following successful completion of the Paper Pilot Program, PTFS competed for and was awarded the Records and Backlog Management Support Contract. As the sole recipient of the contract award, PTFS will be preserving and cataloging historical paper documents for 8,000 cubic feet of records at the Naval History and Heritage Command Archives Branch at the Washington Navy Yard. The program also requires PTFS to automate the input of the resulting metadata records to TRIM. The records consist of official and public access documents, personal papers, and oral histories. PTFS’ strong background and expertise in preserving, cataloging and automating input to TRIM will be a tremendous asset to PTFS as it moves ahead on this year long project with the Department of Navy.
