PTFS Awarded Prime Contract for NGA’s ILS Next Program
North Bethesda, Maryland, January 7, 2014- PTFS was recently awarded a five year multi-million dollar prime contract from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) GEOINT Research Center (GRC) for a program called ILS Next. ILS Next replaces NGA’s legacy Voyager library management system which has been in operation for over a decade.
PTFS is supplying its COTS ArchivalWare Digital Library System (DLS) to satisfy the stringent and complex requirements of the contract. PTFS will work closely with the staff of the GRC to replace the legacy Voyager bibliographic cataloging system with ArchivalWare DLS. DLS is a state-of-the-art digital collection management system developed by PTFS which allows libraries and information centers to administer both print and digital collections from a single application. PTFS’ DLS enables ingest, cataloging, storage, discovery, conversion, repurposing, collection, and assessment of geospatial and other multi-INT content on all three NGA network domains. PTFS’ expertise with hundreds of different geospatial file formats will help the GRC manage and share geospatial data throughout the IC. PTFS’ strong background in geospatial content management coupled with extensive experience in deploying and managing Integrated Library Systems will provide NGA with superior expertise throughout the duration of the contract. PTFS staff will implement the application with GRC staff, and enhance functionality based upon specific requirements identified by the GRC. PTFS will then support the system over the five (5) year period of performance of the contract and provide additional functional enhancements in future increments. This award furthers the strong partnership between PTFS and the NGA and exemplifies the commitment PTFS has to executing NGA’s mission.
“We’re excited to work with the information professionals at GRC,” said John Yokley, PTFS CEO. “We’ve known many of them over the years through professional associations and conferences, so we are very pleased to have the chance to work with them. We believe that ArchivalWare DLS will provide the GRC staff the Next Generation capabilities they are seeking to manage GEOINT and Multi-INT data for NGA and other IC customers ultimately fulfilling the future mission of the NGA and the GRC.”
