PTFS Improvements in govinfo Help GPO Win Award

Rockville, MD – November 10, 2020 – Strategic system improvements implemented by Progressive Technology Federal Systems (PTFS) helped the U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) win a 2020 Government Experience Award for govinfo. Govinfo is the one-stop site for authentic information published by the Government that was built and is maintained by PTFS.

The Government Experience Awards recognizes the achievements and best practices of states, cities, counties, and Federal agencies that are radically improving the experience of Government and pushing the boundaries of how citizen services are delivered. GPO won an award in the Project Experience category.

By working closely with the GPO staff, PTFS was able to identify and improve areas in govinfo that would better the user experience while streamlining document publishing and retrieval. Those improvements began in March, shortly after the outbreak of COVID-19.

In that same timeframe, GPO has seen a 20% increase in the amount of documents published compared to the same time period in the previous year despite having to transition to a completely telework schedule. In addition, there have been more than 188 million retrievals from govinfo since the outbreak of the pandemic.
